Web Design in Cape Town, Built to Be Remembered.

Poke Digital is an independent web design studio based in Cape Town. We design and build custom websites for brands that want more than a template with their logo on it — sites with a clear point of view, a considered interface, and the technical foundation to actually perform.

Every project is custom — no page builders, no recycled themes. We design and develop marketing sites, hospitality and restaurant websites, property and real estate platforms, and brand-led experience sites, each one built around the business behind it rather than a generic template.

That includes the full stack of what a modern website needs to do its job: a distinctive visual identity carried through every screen, an interface that guides visitors toward a decision, and a codebase that loads fast and holds up on mobile.

Before a single screen gets designed, we work out what the site actually needs to achieve — who it's for, what they need to find quickly, and what a successful visit looks like. Design decisions that aren't traceable back to a business goal get cut, however good they look in isolation.

Interfaces are designed around real user journeys, not just a homepage moodboard. That means clear information architecture, deliberate visual hierarchy, and interaction patterns that make the site easy to use on the first visit. Read more on our UI/UX design page.

Every design ships as hand-built, semantic front-end code — not a page-builder export. That means faster load times, cleaner accessibility, and a site that's genuinely maintainable as it grows. See our web development service for the technical detail.

A few recent projects designed and built by Poke Digital:

Most visitors to a Cape Town business website arrive on a phone. Layouts, tap targets, navigation and load performance are designed and tested for mobile first, then scaled up — not the other way around.

Semantic HTML, clean URL structure, fast page loads and crawlable content are built in from the first commit, not patched on after launch. Full detail on our SEO-ready websites page.

If your team needs to update menus, listings, projects or articles without calling a developer, we build a content system around that workflow. More on CMS development.

A beautiful site that loads slowly loses visitors before they see it. Images are optimised, animation is used with intent rather than everywhere, and every build is checked against Core Web Vitals before launch.

Who we work with

Restaurants and hospitality brands, property developers and studios, architecture and design practices, and independent businesses in Cape Town and further afield who want a site with taste and a clear commercial purpose — not a mass-market template.

Our process

Discovery, strategy, design, refine, launch — five stages that move a project from a first conversation to a live site with as little uncertainty as possible along the way. Every stage ends with something concrete: a brief, a sitemap, a design file, a working build.

FAQs

How much does web design cost in Cape Town?

It depends on scope — a focused brochure site is a different job to a multi-page platform with a custom CMS. We scope every project individually after a discovery call and confirm pricing in writing before any design work begins, rather than quoting from a generic price list.

How long does a custom website design project take?

Most projects run 4–10 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on scope, content readiness and how many rounds of feedback a project needs. We agree a timeline upfront and communicate clearly if scope changes affect it.

Do you only design websites, or do you build them too?

Both. Strategy, UI/UX design and development happen under one roof, with the same person carrying the vision from first sketch to shipped site — so nothing gets diluted in translation between a design team and a build team.

Can you redesign an existing website instead of building from scratch?

Yes — see our dedicated website redesign service. We audit what's underperforming, keep what already works, and rebuild the rest with a clear plan for preserving search rankings during the migration.

Will my website be built to rank on Google?

Every site we build starts with semantic HTML, clean URL structure, fast-loading pages and crawlable content — the technical foundation search engines need. See our SEO-ready websites page for the full detail.
